GOD'S WILL OR YOUR WILL (PART 2)

TEXT:

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Romans chapter 12 verse 2, King James Version).

There are three levels of God's will for us in life. But before we go into this, it's important to understand that the desire of God for us is that we be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (see Colossians chapter 1 verse 9). To be filled with the knowledge of God's will is linked to our knowledge of God's Word. The result of this is that we would be enabled, among other things, to walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing (see Colossians chapter 1 verse 10).

The same sentiment is expressed in Hebrews chapter 5 verses 13 to 14. By reason of our acquaintance with the Word of God, we have our senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Our deep acquaintance with God's Word transforms us, giving us the ability to have our senses exercised to discern both good and evil. It serves to deliver us from spiritual adolescence. It is the state where we have our mind renewed in order to line up with God's Word or thoughts. At this point, we experience a departure from sensuality unto spirituality, from the body ruled life unto the Spirit led life.

The role of God's Word in our lives is crucial to our ability to discern or know His will for us. God's Word is His mind or will for us. The more we get our minds renewed with God's Word, the clearer His will becomes to us. But the same is not true of the one who's barren or devoid of God's Word. Such a one is in darkness and will walk in darkness.  Psalms 119 stanza 105 says,

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

The portion of them that have no knowledge of God's Word and consequently His will is akin to them that are in darkness. Such people have nothing else but their sensual inclinations to guide them on issues of life. Their choices in life are dictated by what suits their senses, with the implication that they regrettably miss out completely of God's will for them.

The Bible describes their lot as follows:

"We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men." (Isaiah chapter 59 verse 10).

But with the one that has the knowledge of God's Word, there's no stumbling for him. This is because he's filled with the knowledge of God's will. as the Bible says,

"The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide."

(Psalms 37 stanza 31).

God is ever revealing Himself and His will to us through His Word. Choosing to turn your back to God's will for your life has untold adverse and regrettable consequences. Let's learn to seek and remain in God's will for us and we'll be the better for it.

PRAYER:

Lord, as I study Your Word, give me to know and understand Your will for me in life, in Jesus name.
