TEXT
" And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large." (Mark 16 verses 3 to 4).
In our Scripture reading this morning, we see that the women, with heaviness of hearts, pondered on the question, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” as they journeyed to the tomb where the Lord Jesus was laid.
The heaviness of their hearts could not deny Jesus of their services. They did not capitalize on the matter of the stone as an excuse for their services unto the Master.
Many out there would see the stone at the tomb as a perfect excuse for not rendering their services to the Master. We often look for flimsy excuses to shy away from our responsibilities.
That wasn't so with these committed and dedicated women. They were sold out for nothing, but the Master's work Let us look at Mark.16 verse 1:
"And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him."
These women were determined to render services to their Lord despite the obvious constraint before them. But unknown to them, what constituted the major obstacle to them had been taken care of by the same God to whom they desired to do service. Isn't that amazing, that God would aid them that desired to do Him service? This shows that God desires our service to Him and will do whatever it takes to aid us to serve Him.
While the men went into hiding, these women took it upon themselves to ensure that the customary duty of anointing the Master was observed.
Truly, in our moments of despair, it is God alone that can roll away whatever constitutes an obstacle on the path to our breakthrough in life.
The stone was probably not a small stone. Nevertheless, by faith, they did not see it as a hindrance to what they needed to do. Once God saw their faith, He moved in to aid them by sending an angel to roll away the stone. This is a perfect example of the kind of faith that moves God to act for us. These women were simply dogged and tenacious in their faith.
Now, the question is how dodged are you when occasion calls for service unto the Master? The Bible says, "As the women pondered upon “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?”, the next verse says, "And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large."
This is God intervening for His own. We must have this understanding that God is seated enthroned above and will never allow us to lack the power to do His work, nor will He hesitate to lend a helping hand to the one who is deficient and who is desirous of serving Him. In this regard, He's with us always, even unto the end of the world (Matthew.28 verse 20).
PRAYER:
Thank You Heavenly Father for rolling away every stone that constitutes a barrier to my breakthrough in Jesus' Mighty name
