TEXT:

"And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho,...all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him." (Joshua 6 verses 2  to 5.)

For us to experience victory and answer to our prayers, we must have faith in God's Word and, at the same time, respond to Him with a corresponding action.

From  today's Scripture reading, the people of Israel believed God's Word and also acted upon it by faith. God told His people that He had given them the city of Jericho, He also gave them specific instructions on how to take possession of the land. The people in obedience did exactly what God told them, and they obtained the promise.

Who would have believed that an ordinary shout could cause the walls of Jericho to come down flat. What brought about the victory in the battle was the faith of Joshua and the people of Israel upon the Word of God.  It did not stop there. They backed it up with a corresponding action. They did not question the battle plan, which was basically unconventional in nature.

The Bible says, in the book of First Corinthians 1 verse 27  "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;"

The battle plan seemed to be a child's play, but through it, God brought extraordinary victory unto His people.

In all, God responded to the children of Israel according to their faith. As they shouted in obedience to His Word, God, in turn brought down the walls of Jericho in a miraculous way.

The secret of their victory was not in their strength, neither was it in their ammunition, but rather it was squarely by reason of a shout of faith.

The Bible records that "By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down after they were compassed about seven days." (Hebrews 11 verse 30)

If we want to see the victory we so long for, then our faith in God's Word is very paramount, aside from our obedience to His commands.

As the Lord came through for the people of Israel, He will also come through for us, in Jesus Mighty name.

PRAYER :

Thank You Heavenly Father for coming through for me as You did unto the people of Israel, in Jesus' Mighty name.
