DIVINE HEALING: YOUR PORTION (PART 8, FINAL PART)
"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." - Romans 8:11 (KJV)
In our discussion on Divine healing, we have entered into the final part and it's a realm that requires your utmost attention as what I want to share with you is very vital. In addition to Matt 8:17, 1 Pet 2:24 and a host of other Scriptures on Divine healing, the provisions of Rom 8:11 is very interesting. With what I am about to share with you, every Child of God is able to (1) produce and administer healing on himself and (2) live a perpetual life of Divine health devoid of sickness and disease. The main reason for this is that we as God's Children now have the Healer (the Spirit of the Lord Jesus) at home in our mortal bodies. He's the Greater One in us than the one in the world (1 Jn 4:4).
The indwelling Spirit of God in man is a positive game changer for the Child of God in his battle with satan and his cohorts. Again, the theme of the indwelling Spirit of God in man is a marked point of difference between the old Testament and the new Testament. It's clearly ascertained by the Holy Scriptures that when we received Jesus into our lives, we also received His Spirit into us. Thenceforth, our bodies became the dwelling place of the Spirit of the Lord (See 1Cor 3:9,16,6:19; 2Cor 6:16; Eph 2:21-22; Heb 3:6; 1Pet 2:5; 1Jn 4:15)
I'm particularly overwhelmed with joy and gratitude to God for 1Jn 4:4:
"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." In other words, the Greater One (God the Holy Spirit) that dwells in us is the Reason we have overcome the devil with his evil works, particularly sickness. It's important that I let you know besides, that the benefits of the indwelling Spirit belong to the Children of God only and that unbelievers have no portion in it (Jn 14:17).
Now, let me ask you this question! What on earth do you think that God the Spirit is doing in you? The Bible records that one of the tasks of the indwelling Spirit in us is to heal our mortal bodies. "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you." - Romans 8:11 (KJV). To "quicken" means to make alive, give life, heal and to restore. The purpose of affliction, sickness and disease is to produce death in our mortal bodies. But here we have the Holy Spirit given to quicken, make alive, restore, give life and revitalize our mortal bodies. Praise God!
Naturally, the life of the flesh is in the blood (Lev 17:11). After we become born again, our natural life is supplanted by the supernatural life of God. By implication therefore, blood as the life of the flesh also becomes supplanted by the life of the Spirit. The Spirit becomes the life of the flesh. That being the case, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ which produces life, automatically supplants the law of sin and death, which produces sickness and disease (Rom 8:2). Jesus is known to have said in John 10:10: "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Thus, while Jesus is the Author of Life, satan is the author of death, with sickness being one of the channels through which he accomplishes his purpose.
The Spirit of Christ in us gives life, vitalizes, makes alive, quicken and heals our mortal bodies. This does not occur at resurrection when we are clothed with a spiritual body. No! Rom 8:11, cited above refers to “mortal bodies”, our present physical bodies. When Jesus resurrected, His body was with flesh and bones, but without blood because He was emptied of His blood to present to the Father in heaven (Lk 24:39; Jn 20:17). The resurrected life of Jesus therefore is a life where blood ceases to be the life of the flesh. At our rebirth, this is the same life we share with the Son of the Living God. Hallelujah! It’s a life supplanted by the Spirit of God as the Source of life. The Bible says that Jesus, the Quickening Spirit has become our life (1 Cor 15:45, Col 3:4). The life of the Child of God is a life that isn’t ordinary. It's a supernatural life! We are a new creation (2 Cor 5:17)
In Spite of this truth, it is vital to point out that you’ll experience the quickening effect of the Spirit in you to the extent you submit to the Holy Spirit in you; or in other words, the extent you yield yourself to Him is the extent He will impact you with the life of Christ. The more you permit Him to take control of you, the more you experience the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that sets you free from the law of sin and death (Rom 8:2). Sickness and disease is the product of the law of sin and death.
Therefore, we have a situation where we possess at home in us the Healer, who takes care of our mortal bodies so that we don’t suffer sickness as others do. If per adventure we do (James 5:14), then we can have adequate recourse to the One on the inside of us to restore, quicken, revitalize or heal us. Praise the Lord!
Finally, let me say that it's not enough that you have the knowledge of Him dwelling in you. You have to literally put the Giant, the Greater One in you to work for you, to minister healing to your mortal body (Phil 2:12, Jude 1:3). Apostle Paul admonished Timothy not to neglect the gift in him (1Tim 4:14) but to " ... stir up the gift of God, which is in (him) by the putting on of (Apostle Paul's) hands." - 2 Timothy 1:6, KJV (emphasis mine).Here, Apostle Paul was referring to the Holy Spirit that was in Timothy. Of what use is the Greater One in you when He's dormant and not put to work. This is what we teach and it's yielding great results in the lives of men, particularly in the matter of Divine healing. Glory to God!
My sincere desire and prayers for the sick is to get them healed wherever they may be. Distance has never been a problem with God and consequently with us, His servants. Kindly repeat after me:
PRAYER:
Dear Father, I thank you for sending Jesus to the Cross for me. Today, I confess Him as the Lord and Saviour of my life. (Now, lay your hand on the part of the body that you need healing.) I rebuke sickness in my body in the name of Jesus. I command every unclean spirit responsible for this sickness (name the sickness) to desist from its maneuvers and operations in my body, and I cast you out of my body, in the name of Jesus. Dear Lord Jesus, you took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses, so that I have no reason to be sick in my body anymore. Dearest Holy Spirit, you dwell in me. Therefore, in the name of Jesus, I pray now that you heal, restore, revitalize and quicken my mortal body (name the part of the body that you need healing). Thank you Holy Spirit, for I believe that I'm healed, in Jesus name.
