BEWARE OF IDLE WORDS! (Part 2)
TEXT:
"But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matthew 12 verses 36 to 37, King James Version).
A lot of people don't know that the words they speak are of utmost importance with regards to what becomes of them in life. Idle words, as we noted earlier on, are most dangerous as they often become means by which people open the door to their lives for demons and unclean spirits to manipulate them. More scary is the Lord's assertion in our Scripture reading for today "that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment."
There's some point we often ignore each time we read the Scripture reading for today. After His warning to us on the danger of speaking idle words, the Lord Jesus, went further to tell us something very interesting. According to Him, on the day of judgment, "by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." No doubt, this relates to words that were spoken while we lived here on earth before we passed out of this planet earth to face God's judgment.
My interest especially is in the phrase "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." The Word "justified" literally means "to render just or innocent" to be "free", to be "righteous". What does this mean? It means that as we stand before God on the day of judgment, the words we spoke while we lived on earth would have the potential to either set us free or bring us into condemnation. In other words, those wholesome, sapient or prudent words that you spoke while you were here on earth could bring you freedom from condemnation on the judgment day. As it is, the reverse is obviously the case with idle or unwholesome words that were spoken by you while you lived here on earth. Obviously, by them, you are condemned.
Although the Bible says that there's no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. But we know that this isn't an automatic provision for every believer. It's a promise for those believers "who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (See Romans 8 verse 1). To speak idle words is undoubtedly a far cry from the spiritual walk into which we have been called in Christ Jesus. It's at best a walk in the flesh to speak idle or unwholesome words.
Resolve this day to discreetly choose your words because by them on the judgment day, you are either justified or you are condemned.
PRAYER
Lord, forgive me for every idle word that I have uttered in the past. Henceforth, "Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips." that I will not speak idle or unwholesome words, in Jesus name .
