YOU ARE THAT ASS!
TEXT:
"And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: ..." (Exodus 13 verse 13; see also 34 verse 20, King James Version)
The universal law of the Lord is that every firstborn creature belongs to Him. In Exodus chapter 34 verse 19, the Lord states very clearly that,
"All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male." Again, this universal law is repeated in Exodus 13 verse 12,
"That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD's".
But with regards to the ass, the Lord commands saying,
"And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb;" (see Exodus 13:13, 34:20). The reason for this is that though the ass is the Lord's due, it is an unclean animal and cannot be presented to Him for sacrifice. That being the case, the Lord requires that it be redeemed with a lamb, which is a clean animal, acceptable unto Him for sacrifice. In other words, as far as the ass is concerned the only option available for it to be accepted by the Lord is that of redemption. According to the Lord, the ass must be saved by the substitution of the lamb in its place; or if not redeemed, it should die.
"and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck:" (Exodus 13 verse 13).
Dear reader, understand that you are that unclean ass that needs to be redeemed by Jesus the Lamb of God, failing which you should die. By God's universal law, you belong to Him, but you are so sinful and unclean that He will not accept you. The only remedy is for Jesus the Lamb of God to redeem you or take your place by substitution, failing which you must die.
Humanity has to understand this, that mankind is completely unclean before God.
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;" says Isaiah 64 verse 6.
God sees you the way He sees the ass; unclean! In this regard, Isaiah 64 verse 6 declares that
"our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
In the same vein, Isaiah 59 verse 2 reiterates man's position, saying
"But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, ... *
God has given Jesus, the sinless Lamb of God, who has suffered and died and man the ass is saved. It's the case of the sinless taking the place of the sinful in order that the sinful might be accepted by God. This is the grand plan of God for humanity through Christ which plan must not be neglected by anyone. You must receive Christ the Lamb of God into your life in order to be redeemed and to escape God's death penalty.
The question is, have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour? No time can be better than now, the beginning of a new year, to make reconciliation with God in order to escape His death penalty. Should you desire to be saved, pray as follows:
PRAYER:
Father, I'm like the ass, I concede that I am unclean and completely estranged from You. I thank You for giving Jesus Your Lamb to redeem me and to make me acceptable to You. Dear Lord Jesus, I confess and receive You as my Lord and Saviour, I believe You died and was buried for me. God raised You back to life on the third day for me. Henceforth, I'm born again and acceptable unto the Father, never to die the death of the sinner, in Jesus name.
