YOU ARE HOLY!

TEXT:

"And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground."

The presence of God in any place sanctifies it, makes it holy. Mount Horeb was called "the mountain of God" in Exodus 3 verse 1 because of God's presence there. In our Scripture reading for today the Lord confirmed this to Moses that the place he was standing was holy ground. It's the same thing in Joshua 5 verse 15 when Joshua was before the Captain of the Lord's host.

"And the captain of the LORD's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so."

Yes, what sanctifies a person or place is God's presence.

With regards to the mountain, it's worthy to mention that its holiness will not diminish a hoot, though fire burns it; though various kinds of animals on the mountain mess it up with feces. Notwithstanding, it remains holy.

In the same vein, the presence of the Holy Spirit in us sanctifies us, makes us holy. In 1st Corinthians 6 verse 11, the Bible says that we "are washed, ... sanctified, ... justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD" (Emphasis added). The same sentiment is expressed in 2nd Thessalonians 2 verse 13, 1st Peter 1 verse 2 and Jude 1.

Christians are the holy people of God.  As a child of God, don't get intimidated by the term "holy". After all, it's God Himself that sanctified you and called you holy. What you should do is to start confessing and acting on your holiness without doubt and without delay. Doing so has the effect of aligning your life accordingly. It's like you reminding yourself who you are, that you are the holy child of God.

Like the case of the holy mountain discussed above, our holiness as God's children is not diminished a bit in spite of the numerous satanic onslaughts and reproaches that are arrayed and marshaled against us (see 1st Peter 4 verses 12 to 14).

So therefore, rejoice because God sees you as His Holy child. Don't let whatever you are going through distract you from the beautiful picture of you in God's sight. This calls for thanksgiving and celebration! Besides, it also calls for us to respond to God's kindness by living for Him in line with our holy status. Glory to God!

PRAYER:

Father, thank You for sanctifying me. I pledge to live for You in line with my status as Your holy child, in Jesus name.
