WHEN YOU KNOW NOT WHAT TO DO.

I have no power of my own

TEXT

"O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.” (2 Chronicles 20 verse 12b )

Part of the Bible is a catalog of men and women who, at a point in time of their lives, did not know what to do regarding the situations around them. The interesting thing about some of these men and women is that they made the right decision at that point in time.

For instance, the book of Second Chronicles chapter 20 is an amazing story of the people of Judah and their ruler, King Jehoshaphat. King Jehoshaphat was a man who loved and served God faithfully, like his ancestor, David. When King Jehoshaphat and his kingdom were faced with an  overwhelming situation, they sought God in prayer instead of being in despair. They moved their eyes off the problem onto the ultimate Redeemer.

As today's verse rightly says, the people of Judah didn’t know what to do. Yet they decided to seek the LORD their God for intervention. They chose to walk in faith instead of walking in fear. Hallelujah

The King resorted to making God his first point of contact. The Scripture says, "And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD."  (Second Chronicles chapter 20 verses 3 to 4)

The Bible says, "Jehoshaphat feared and set himself to seek the LORD,..." Being afraid at the time in question did not mean that the King had lost hope and confidence in his God.  He knew that his God was more than able, and therefore, he chose to seek Him for help, and the Lord did not disappoint him

At the time of peril, fear is oftentimes inevitable. It comes naturally. Fear is a false imagination of the heart. It sets the heart at a state of despondency. It's fake evidence posing as real. It's a tool of the devil to destabilize the children of God and to make them doubt the ability of God.

Like King Jehoshaphat, we shouldn't give in to fear, but rather, let's remember what the Word of God says, in the book of Daniel 11 verse 32, "And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits."

Dear brother and sister, even as God came through for King Jehoshaphat against his enemies, so shall He come through for us in all of our troubles, in Jesus Mighty name.

PRAYER:

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for being who You are from age to age. As You came through for the people of Israel, You are coming through for me in Jesus' mighty name.
