WHAT DO YOU DO AT THE TIME OF PERIL?

SONG

I surrender all

I surrender all

All to Thee, my blessed Savior

I surrender all.

TEXT:

"The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones... And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest." (Ezekiel 37 verses 1 to 3).

There is always a time in our lives when we are at our wits end, not knowing what to do.

The book of Ezekiel chapter 37 was a picture of the deplorable condition that God's people found themselves in and they did not know what to do about it. But glory be to God for His promise of restoration.

God took prophet Ezekiel in a vision into a valley that was full of dry bones,; and like I said, this signified the condition of the people of God at that time. The bones were not only dry but were also scattered around.

The truth was that God’s people were in a state of immense desolation. They needed God's intervention. Like the people of Israel, you may be going through some dire and unbearable challenges of life. Whatever might be the situation that you are experiencing right now, and no matter how bad or desolate things might be with you, it's God that you need. My counsel to you is to be of good courage, because you have a great and loving Father, who

has promised never to leave you or forsake you.

At various times in the Bible, God has demonstrated His power and ability to bring forth life from that which was dead or lifeless.

In the Scripture reading for today, God asked prophet Ezekiel saying,

"Son of man, can these bones live?"

Ezekiel's answer to the Lord was:

"O Lord GOD, thou knowest."

This was because the condition of the dry bones was very deplorable and humanly speaking, it was a completely hopeless situation.

Like prophet Ezekiel, let's learn to acknowledge our weaknesses and inabilities before God and to allow Him to do for us what only Him can do. I believe that Ezekiel's answer to the Lord as aforesaid, served to confess before the Lord his reliance on Him to make the dry bones to live again, knowing that with God, all things are possible. In other words, Ezekiel knew that the power of life and restoration rested not in his own strength and power, but in the hands of God Almighty.

This is a great lesson for us here, to the end that in the face of difficulty and uncertainty, it is wise to turn unto God and  to cease from our own wisdom and ability.

My dear brethren, when situations weigh heavy upon us and we are uncertain about what to do, it's good we surrender all unto God, trusting that He Who wields the power to accomplish all things will come through for us, in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

Dear Heavenly Father, may You take over all about my life. I surrender all to You Lord, in Jesus' Mighty name.
