TRUST IN GOD (PART 6)
"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)" - Hebrews 10:23 (KJV)
Welcome to part 6 in the series. In our part 1 in this series, published on July 23, 2023, I spoke extensively on the faithfulness of God to them that put their trust in Him. You may refer to that publication via our link https://wordfortoday.netlify.app/ for more. Today, I wish to dwell a little bit more on God's faithfulness to His promises.
The Scripture reference for today enjoins us to "hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)" (Heb 10:23). The entire gamut of the Holy Scriptures attests unequivocally to the faithfulness of God to His promises. Since the Lord is found to be unfailing and faithful to His promises, He becomes worthy before men to be trusted.
For instance, the Psalmist in Psalm 89 had noted God's faithfulness to David and in consequence, had dedicated himself to its proclamation.
"I will sing about the Lord’s faithful love forever; I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations with my mouth. For I will declare, “Faithful love is built up forever; you establish your faithfulness in the heavens. ... Lord, the heavens praise your wonders — your faithfulness also — in the assembly of the holy ones. ... But I will not withdraw my faithful love from him or betray my faithfulness. I will not violate my covenant or change what my lips have said. Once and for all I have sworn an oath by my holiness; I will not lie to David." (Ps 89:1, 2, 5, 33-35, CSB) This is awesome!
God is known to be no respecter of persons. If He proved Himself faithful to David, we can be rest assured that we will in the same vein enjoy His faithfulness because we have trusted in Him. (Acts 10:34-35, Rom 2:11)
In the Book of Joshua, chapter 21, verse 45, the Bible clearly attests to the faithfulness of our God towards His promises. There we have it written:
"There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass." That's wonderful! The Bible says concerning God's promises to Israel that "all came to pass" What a Great God we serve!
Again, in the same Book of Joshua, chapter 23, verse 14, we have Joshua, the son of Nun rehearsing to Israel of God's faithfulness to His promises:
"And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof."
God is without doubt known to be unfailing and faithful in character. What has He said that He will not do? (Num 23:19).
Even as His children, "If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself." (2 Tim 2:13)
Therefore, given the overwhelming evidence of God's faithfulness to His promises, I submit that He deserves our trust. As a child of God, it's an error to be intimidated by the enormity or the age of your problem. God is not only bigger than our problems, it's on record besides, that He's never failed them that trusted in Him because He cares. So therefore, "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)" (Heb 10:23)
Truly, "Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust," (Ps 40:4)
PRAYER:
Dearest Heavenly Father, my trust in You remains unwavering. You have shown beyond doubt that You are worthy of my trust. I am blessed in life because I have made You my trust, in Jesus' mighty name.
