THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD (Part 3)

SONG

Do not allow me

Do not allow me

Do not allow me, Jesus,

To go empty handed.

TEXT

"And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech." (Ruth chapter 2 verse 3)

The road of providence is not usually as easy as you might think. It is often permeated with roughness and many challenges. All the men and women of old that walked on this path did not have it all rosy, but witnessed so many unwholesome issues. The good news is that, at the end of everything, they emerged victoriously.

No matter how hopeless the situations you are going through, seem to be, make up your mind to trust God to the end.

The story of Ruth, the daughter in- law of Naomi, stands as a fundamental example of those that walked on the path of providence. She was a woman of determination. She made up her mind to follow her mother in- law, come rain, come shine.

"And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:"(Ruth chapter 1 verse 16)

We can also see her willingness to seek what she would eat with her mother-in-law. She went out to glean in the fields behind the harvesters. The providence of God led and guided her to a field. Little did she know that in the course of duty, she would find a husband in that same field. Ruth's love for God and others, divinely landed her in a field belonging to Boaz, who was by  custom and tradition, the right person to redeem her as a widow. Boaz eventually married Ruth and she gave birth to a son, whose name was Obed. Obed was included in the lineage of Jesus, the Son of God. As the story of her faithfulness unfolds, we see the providence of God being played out. God Himself orchestrated the entire scenario and eventually got married to Boaz.

Our services and commitments to God can never end in futility. They will surely be graced with great rewards, even as Ruth was graciously rewarded at the end of it all.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I thank You for coming through for me and for not allowing my enemies to say, 'where is my God.
