TEXT
"And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone."
(Matthew 14 verse 23)
The word earnest seeker means to go in search of something with an intense and serious state of mind. It has to start from a heart with determination and commitment.
For one to intentionally seek and have a deeper relationship with God, there are certain things to put into consideration. One of such is to lay a good foundation for a steadfast fellowship with the Lord and that requires discipline. We can experience God’s undeniable love and care only in the stillness of moments with Him.
Jesus had a place that He usually went to pray, to seek His Father's Face. If ever there were one who could dispense with special seasons for solitude and fellowship, it was our Lord Jesus. But He could not do His work or maintain His fellowship in full power, without His quiet time with His Father. As believers, we need to cultivate and earmark sacred moments with our Creator by setting aside specific moments each day and dedicating such to commune with Him. Times without numbers, I have reiterated that Jesus is our perfect Example.
In our Scripture reading for today, we see the Lord having His moment of fellowship with God, His Father. The Bible says, "...and when the evening was come, he was there alone." ( Matthew 14 verse 23).
Quiet moments with God can be likened to one honoring an appointment with a cherished friend.
Depending on your disposition, such moments can be any time of the day, or at one of the night hours. The early hours of the day are popular moments amongst men who have chosen to commune with their Maker!
Towards having a fruitful moment of fellowship with God, designate a particular space in your place of abode as a sanctuary for prayer and meditation. It may be a corner in your house, or somewhere else that's free from distractions. As you set apart your place of choice and you dedicate it for fellowship with God, soon you begin to experience a sense of the divine presence of the Lord dwelling in the place.
From there, you'll have God speak to you, instruct and give you directions about issues of life. Why many people have not experienced God in their lives is chiefly because they have neglected this simple art of daily communion with Him.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, I'm very grateful for Your promise to ever be with me to instruct me. Help me to intentionally develop daily moments of fellowship with You in Jesus' Mighty name.
