REWARD AFTER STRUGGLES [Part 6]
SONG
Give unto the Lord
Whatsoever you have
Give unto the Lord.
TEXT
"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke chapter 6 verse 38.)
Many Christians consider giving as burdensome. They do not have the understanding that when they give, they are invariably lending to God who has promised to pay them back handsomely. Biblical principles affirm that giving is a way through which God blesses us. When you give, God will cause others to give to you in return.
Giving is a spiritual phenomenon that brings about great benefits. For instance when we plant a seed, it goes through the process of germination unto a full grown plant that brings forth fruits. That one seed planted grows into a tree that has many fruits on it.
The same principles apply to our giving. The Bible says, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke chapter 6 verse 38.)
Giving may not be that easy at times. It may cause us some pains, inconveniences and discomfort, but at the end, it brings a great reward. When you obey God in your giving, you get a tremendous harvest in return.
David understood these principles when he said that he will not offer to the LORD his God sacrifices that have cost him nothing.
"And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost." - (First Chronicles chapter 21 verse.24.)
David had the opportunity to give to God what would cost him nothing, but he rejected the idea. He saw God deserving so much from him.
Many people delight in giving out the remnant of what they have. They do the same to God. This may account for why they are not enjoying full blessing from God. The book of Malachi has this to say.
"And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts." - (Malachi chapter1 verse 8.)
It is advisable to give God our best, not leftovers. Leftovers or remnants are meant for dogs, not God. Whether it is our time or resources, let us give a good amount of it to God, because He deserves our best.
PRAYER:
Thank You Heavenly Father, for You have done so much for me. Help me to give You my best in Jesus' Mighty name.
