TEXT

"...He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever” John 14:16

Jesus never intended to leave His disciples comfortless. Therefore, He promised to send another Comforter in the person of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Head of the present dispensation. He is the Governor of the Church. His power was gloriously manifested on the day of Pentecost and thereafter in the lives of the Apostles.

Jesus said that when He comes, He will abide with us; so therefore He remains as the  Immanuel; that is, God with us. He is dwelling in us and is with us.

He is the One who quickens and guides us. Also, He rules in our midst. Hallelujah!

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." - John.6:63.

When His presence is duly recognized as it ought to be, then we are able to witness His Sovereignty and all of His operations.

Without Him, we can do nothing; but by His Almighty power, we can function extraordinarily. The life of the true child of God ought to line up the path of the Holy Spirit. When the disciples of Jesus had an experience with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, the Bible says that

"... there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." - Acts  2:1-4

This experience changed not only their lives but the lives of others as well. By the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the Apostles, they did wondrous things in their generation. Without their witness and that of those that came after them, we would never have known about the saving power of Jesus.

By the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we can do wonders as well for the Master, making positive impacts in our generation.

Let us therefore, humble ourselves and entreat the Heavenly Father to endue us with power from on High; that we might be refreshed and anointed with the oil from above; to the end that we are not shortchanged or short-circuited in our Christian walk. The Holy Ghost is no temporary Gift but a permanent One. He abides with us. When we seek Him, He will be found by us. He is very gentle and does not force Himself on anyone. He is very jealous, but full of compassion. When He is grieved, He retreats; but returns in mercy.

PRAYER

Lord, I yield myself totally unto You that You fill me with Your Spirit in Jesus' Mighty Name.
