LORD, OPEN THE EYES OF MY HEART.
SONG
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You, I want to see You.
TEXT
"One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. And after she was baptized, and her household as well,..." (Acts 16 verse 14).
We have been on the series of "TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION" and centering our discussion on the book of Revelation 3 verse 20,
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
This morning, we will be focusing our attention on a woman whose heart was opened by the Lord to receive His Word. She and the entire members of her household were saved and baptized as well.
The Lord, in His infinite mercies, opened the heart of Lydia, that seller of purple, in Acts 16 verse 14; and from our Scripture reading for today, we see how a divine touch can stir the soul of a person, leading him or her to the truth of God's Word, to the end that such might be saved.
When we open our hearts to the teachings of the Scriptures; we get to understand the will of the Lord for our lives. As Lydia attended unto the words of Paul, she and also her entire household were saved and baptized.
Looking at the parable of the sower in the book of Mark.4 verses 3 to 8, a sower went to sow his seeds. Some fell on rocky ground, some among thorns, and others upon good soil. The good soil happened to be likened to a heart that is open to receive God's Word and thereby bringing forth great harvest.
My question goes this way: How do you cultivate the soil of your heart so that it may bear good fruit for the Kingdom?
To cultivate the soil of one’s heart, as a fruitful garden, is a noble endeavor.
For a garden to yield bountiful harvests, it must be properly nurtured. As the gardener waters his plants, We must water our souls with God's Word, fellowship with faithful brethren, and give unfettered attention to the truth of God's Word..
Let us yield our hearts unto God, giving rapt attention to His Word, bringing all our concerns and desires before Him, to the end that He will not only bring guidance to our souls, but also save us.
PRAYER:
Open the eyes of my heart, O Lord, so that I may know You
better in Jesus' Mighty name.
