GOD'S PRESENCE IS REFRESHING.

SONG

We are gathering together unto thee. We are gathering together unto thee. Unto the Lord, shall the gathering of His people be

We are gathering together unto thee

TEXT

"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD." (Psalm 122  stanza 1)

Going to the house of God for fellowship should be a thing of great delight to everyone that is a child of God. It shouldn't be a thing to be given a second thought about. It should be something fraught with great anticipation, something always to look forward to.

In our Scripture reading for today, the Psalmist says

"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD." (Psalm 122  stanza 1).

Unfortunately, this is very contrary to what is found in our world today.  Men no longer have interest in the things of God. Nowadays, people are virtually forced to go to the house of the LORD or to do things that are pleasing in the sight of God.

The Psalmist's heart rejoiced at the thought of going to the house of the Lord, for therein laid his peace, his refuge, and communion with God.

I want us to imagine what it means to gather in the sanctuary of faith. One of the things it does for us is that it stirs within us a yearning for fellowship. I'm convinced that the reason some people don't have the yearning for going to the sanctuary is because they fail to prepare their hearts for such a sacred moment. Do we long for it like the Psalmist who was full of anticipation towards going to the house of the Lord?

The Bible warns in the book of Hebrews.10 verse 25 saying, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Gathering in the sanctuary of faith is a sacred act, rich in meaning and purpose. It's a spiritual communion between the Creator and His creatures. Imagine the blessings that such a fellowship will bring us. Like the Psalmist, it's a thing to be glad about, to go into the house of the Lord. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Precious Father, it is a great thing to fellowship in Your presence. I long for it because it's refreshing and filled with blessings.
