That is why You are called Jehovah

That is why You are called Jehovah.

What You say You will do, that is what You have done

TEXT

"And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of."  (Genesis chapter 28 verse 15)

In my own words, I would like to define the word 'token' as an assurance or a guarantee about the certainty of an event or promise.

From the Scriptural reading of today, we see God giving Jacob a promise. Jacob woke up from a terrifying dream and by the dream, he was convinced that the place where he laid for the night was the house of God. He affirmed that if God took him to the place he was going and brought him back safely, he would worship God ìn that very place.

GOD also assured him by this: "And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of."

The token there is that no matter whatever happened along the way in Jacob's journey, God would surely bring him back to the very land on which he stood.

Apostle Peter's story in the prison was another example.

Peter was in the prison waiting to face execution the very next day; yet he was not afraid. Rather, he slept soundly. When the angel that brought him deliverance came, he found him fast asleep. Indeed, God gives sleep to His beloved, the Bible says.

From the book John chapter 21 verse 18 we saw that Peter had  already been assured by God that he was going to grow old and be led by others to wherever he wanted to go. This was a token to him and probably was the reason why he could sleep even at the night of his peril.

"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not" (John chapter 21 verse 18).

Peter so believed God that he was not moved by the impending danger that was ahead of him. Though in the prison he was not afraid, because he knew Whom he had believed.

In the same vein, GOD has graciously given us a token this year. 2024 IS OUR YEAR OF NEW THINGS. Come what may this year, we are covered, because of the grace that God has made available for you and me. Hallelujah!

Thank You Heavenly Father for being faithful to Your Word concerning me. They are true and shall fail not, in Jesus' Mighty name
