CAN GOD FIND OUTRIGHT OBEDIENCE IN YOU? (Part 2)

SONG

When we go with the Lord Jesus, to any battle we are the winners.

TEXT.

"And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets." (Joshua chapter 6 verses 3 to 4)

Joshua was one of the great characters in the Bible. He had a divine encounter with the Commander of the LORD'S Army at the plains of Jericho. He was guided to success by the revelation God gave to him. The children of Israel were faced with many challenges on their way to the Promised Land. Some of the challenges were the  battles against the inhabitants of the land. The battle at Jericho was one of the numerous battles fought by the people of God. Prior to the battle of Jericho, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joshua on the plains of Jericho. As the Commander of the LORD'S Army the angel came to give him the strategy by which he should defeat the enemy. The Commander gave Joshua a battle plan that was not conventional. This battle pattern was a divine one. The amazing thing about Joshua is that he believed and obeyed every word that the angel told him, even to the last letter.

This was not the first battle that Joshua fought. He led the people of God against the Amalekites, (Exodus chapter 17 verses 10 to 13). Joshua was a war lord, with a good amount of experience and achievements to show. Yet, he humbly chose God's battle plan over the conventional plan.

"And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city." (Joshua chapter 6 verse 16)

Despite the fact that the city of Jericho was greatly fortified against aggression, God’s Word to Joshua at that moment assured him of victory. The people of Israel did not doubt God's Word or that of Joshua, God's servant. In obedience to God and His servant, the people marched round the walls of Jericho once a day for six days and on the seventh day, they marched round it seven times; and on hearing the blast of the trumpets, they gave a great shout and the walls of Jericho came down flat. Hallelujah!

The Holy Spirit gave Joshua the winning strategy, he obeyed and the name of the LORD was glorified.

As we obey the Word of God and that of His servants, it shall be well with us, in Jesus' mighty name.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I receive grace to obey every bit of Your Word to the end that it will be well with me in Jesus' mighty name.
